Can I learn to fly in a computer simulation?

Follow Chino on a night flying lesson.

First, I've been having trouble mastering the full-stall landing in the (real) Cub -- Ed would say "get the stick back, keep it flying, ALL the way back," and I'd float or bounce. Finally last week he asked me how I hold the stick (CFI sits in front seat in a Cub, hard to look all the way around). I was holding it with my forearm sort of parallel to aircraft's long axis, my wrist aimed at my chest.

WRONG-O !

Need to hold it with a right-angle grip, beer mug style. My wrist was blocking the last 3 inches of stick travel -- makes it stall-proof but you NEED to stall on a 3 point landing! Duh! Last night I used the right grip and got 2 out of 4 landings pretty good (plus one go-around when I was just not lined up on final - crosswinds). It started raining and we had to do an abbreviated pattern for a quick final landing, but Ed said "I think you've got the landing sight-picture" - finally! Too bad I can't fly again for 3 weeks due to a trip.

But I finally got a grip!
