Exhibit: F/A-18 Hornet
Comments: The F/A-18 was developed as a replacement for the F-4 Phantom, the A-6 Intruder and the A-7 Corsair. Note that the first two of those aircraft were two-seaters and the single seat F/A-18 used a "glass cockpit" concept to enable a single pilot to fulfil the same mission roles. The F/A-18 Hornet was developed in the 1970's and is still the backbone of many Western Air Forces.
The F/A-18E Super Hornet has about 50% more endurance than the F/A-18
Here's a picture my brother took at RAAF base Williamtown in 1996.
