Frequently asked questions.

Q: "What is a "Pot"?

A: "Pot" is an abbreviation for "Potentiometer", a rotary device which varies the resistance in a circuit.

A potentiometer

By measuring the resistance the device returns a value for the pot. Your favourite PC flight simulator combines the values of two pots "X" and "Y", and thereby calculates the position of your joytick. This "joystick position" is then converted into control inputs for your virtual aircraft. Due to manufacturing defects or dirt, pots can be "noisy"...putting out erratic values. This causes your aircraft to "wobble" in the pitch (X) or roll (Y) axis.
