World War 2 Pilots I found a good site based in San Francisco: www.worldwar2pilots.com
From the website:
The Group is informal and there are only two rules:
1 - You must have been an Allied or Axis pilot or co-pilot during World War II.
2 - If you die at lunch, you get kicked out of the organization.
Thats it. Pretty simple rules don't you think? Well we have among us a tank driverů

Janes Simulation fans band together General Wasp of the 302nd VAW Hellions informed me: " With the advent of JCN closing down some friends and I have put together a new lobby site to launch from when Jane's goes down. It is chat room based right now and under heavy construction, but all Jane's sims, as well as Falcon 4.0 will be ready to rock by week's end." 0

The Battle of Mogadishu Oct. 3, 1993. This is an excellent account of the events of that day. Very well written and documented with audio, video and maps. This is not for the squeamish and should dispel any notions some might have of the glamour of war! 0

Field Trips: Screaming Pilots Combatsim.com has a nice article by Dr. Simon Ng on the Avalon Airshow. From an Australian F-111 pilot: "Trusting life to a computer, the pilot releases the stick and allows the plane to chart its own course across varied terrain at levels as low as 70m (about 200ft). When a hill appears ahead, the F-111 waits until the last moment to adjust its path and skim over it. At night, "on their first flight using the nap-of-earth autopilot, pilots scream" he told us. Sounds like fun, huh?" 0

Flight of the Foxbat TJ was kind enough to point out to me that Viktor Belenko's famous flight to freedom took place in 1976 - not in 1972 as I had stated. Here is an interview with Viktor Belenko www.fullcontext.org/people/belenko.php  >> 2004 update - web page gone <<  1976
