Wings was a superbly atmospheric dogfighting sim released for the Commodore Amiga in the early 1990's.
Wings of Glory
Wings of Glory Tom Cervoremembers : " I have to say it's the only flight sim that makes you feel that you've stepped into a movie--an aviation epic of the 30's. The characters are cliches, but REAL cliches. Origin didn't have too much luck when they strayed too far from space."
Their Finest Hour (Battle of Britain) was developed by Lawrence Holland for LucasArtsin 1989. George Lucashad been a fan of World War 2movies since childhood, and the famous dogfight scenes in Star Warswere directly inspired by these films... even down to the gun turret in the Millenium Falcon... based on the B-17 Flying Fortress.

After the Liberators: A Father's Last Mission, a Son's Lifelong Journey- by William C. McGuire.
The author Bill McGuire from Larchmont, NY wrote me: "This book tells the story of the 8th Air Force mission to Friedrichshafen, Germany of March 18, 1944, in which the 392nd BG lost 14 Liberators. Specifically, it is also about my Navigator dad's final hours, and how I first came to learn the details in the mid-1990s, secure his files, interview surviving vets and visit his old base in England, his burial place at St. Avold, France and the crash site in southwestern Germany (for his plane and two additional heavies.)"
