What seems passe now was mindblowing in 1980. Tom Pierce has been involved in professional flight simulation since the 1960's and he shares his impressions of one of the very first flight sims on a personal computer.

Gunship

The long awaited sequel to Gunship 2000 came out in 2000 - Gunship. Some fans complained about the lack of hard core features - I found it a blast - and an amazing looking blast! About the time I looked at Gunship I read on www.combatsim.com that Australia had decided on the Eurocopter as it's new armed recon chopper - check out Gunship in the Museum to see the Eurocopter kick butt !

iF/A-18E Carrier Strike Fighter

In 1998 the Flight Sim World was just getting used to the new world of 3-DFX. iF/A-18E Carrier Strike Fighter was released in 1998. It used a variant of the Demon graphics engine developed the year before by iMagic for iF-22

Air Strike USA

Air Strike USA was published by Digital Integration and released on on the PC in 1985. Really an arcade game rather than a flight simulator it is mainly of interest because the Publisher / Design Team Digital Integration went on to produce some of the finest PC Flight Sims ever to grace screens worldwide.
