Joyflights in Microsoft Flight Sim 2002

Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002
I went exploring in Flight Sim 2002 and found a few more areas ideally suited to joyflights, either because of the spectacular terrain, the architectural wonders or both! While most of the world is apparently modelled in mesh with 1.2 km between elevation points, some areas are modelled in much finer detail.

Hawaii- Honululu city is jam packed with skyscrapers and backs onto some incredibly rugged terrain.

Kilauea eruption, 1982
For 2 hours I flew about, circling the enormous peak of Kilauea volcano - or what I thought was Kilauea volcano!!! No eruption ensued - not even a trickle of magma. I checked the date and the time, restarted the flight a few times, flew round the island, flew high, flew low, changed the time... still no eruption! Well eventually I found it.

Paris has architectural marvels to buzz - from Gothic cathedrals to buildings you can fly through!

Tahiti- A few prominent islands and hundreds of attolls. Coming in over a lagoon for landing and skimming the tops of palm trees is a buzz.

Tokyo- very built up and mountains beyond.

Hawker Hurricane Mk I

Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator
I take a look at this famous marque in Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator (1998). Some regarded the fabric covered fuselage as an asset as it was less likely to fall apart after a few hits. Also, unlike in the Spitfire, the pilot wasn't sitting directly above the gas tank. - Hawker Hurricane Mk I
