Aircraft comparison

I've started looking at the aircraft - a few of the virtual cockpits are top class, with clear and functional dials. The external detail on all aircraft is good and some must represent some of the best work done in the Microsoft Combat Flight Sim 2 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002 graphics engines. A case in point is the F-8 Crusader which shows 6 stages of flaps - the first being an eye-boggling tilt of the entire wing assembly ! I have pictures of that too. - Vietnam Air War: Aircraft comparison

Gunship on the Amiga

Gunship - the Commodore Amiga version

The mission generation was endless with a primary and secondary to complete and the briefings had everything you needed for the coming mission. It also had basic radio comms, with password and countersigns being used during the battle - give the wrong response twice and you start getting hunted by your own side!

LHX Attack Chopper Keyboard commands

Exhibit - LHX Attack Chopper
Release Date - 1991
Platform - PC
Developer - Brent Iverson
Publisher - Electronic Arts
In collection - Yes
Comments - The cockpit is simple looking now, but in 1990 it was state of the art! You could configure the MFD's to your taste as well. You could fly the Apache, Blackhawk, Osprey or the LHX. The Boeing Osprey VTOL which was featured in the novel "Hammerheads" by Dale Brown . This was the only simulation of the Osprey until the year 2000!

F-15 Strike Eagle II: Commodore Amiga version

F-15 Strike Eagle II

F-15 Strike Eagle II
In 1989 F-15 Strike Eagle II had one of the richest and most interactive sim environments ever seen. The world was full of activity from enemy fighters and ships. Who can forget "Director Mode", which let you sit back and watch as the sim followed the action. Pour a cup of coffee, grab a donut and watch the action unfold!

Not everyone was as enthralled as I with the sim, read Rob "Bomber" Henderson's comments on the Commodore Amiga version

F-117A Stealth Fighter on the Commodore Amiga

F-117A Stealth Fighter

" I remember it being a real effort sometimes to get anyone to engage you in combat - MiGs would fly so close that it would have resulted in a collision ( if you could have collided that is ) and they would continue to fly right past and off into the big blue beyond. I persevered and completed the 99 mission career, but it just wasn't quite the same as completing the original F-19 Stealth Fighter. "
Rob "Bomber" Henderson remembers F-117A Stealth Fighter on the Commodore Amiga.
