Buzz Aldrin's Race into Space

Buzz Aldrin's Race into Space

In 2001 I installed the CD version on my Celeron-466. I could hear the soundtrack - a reasonably hi-fi classical score - but the images were whizzing by at escape velocity. I briefly glimpsed John F. Kennedy - a moon landing shot and a couple of menu screens. Such is the fate of DOS sims in the 21st century!

However there is now good news for those who want to refly the Cold War Space Race. Go to www.geocities.com/raceintospace and find out where to download the original floppy version of this sim and all the tips you will need on how to get it running, and then how to succeed in the "Race to Space".

Comments - The cockpit is simple looking now, but in 1990 it was state of the art! You could configure the MFD's to your taste as well. You could fly the Apache, Blackhawk, Osprey or the LHX. The Boeing Osprey VTOL which was featured in the novel "Hammerheads" by Dale Brown . This was the only simulation of the Osprey until the year 2000!

LHX Attack Chopper- scans of the SEGA Megadrive version box.

Contact MiGMan with your experiences regarding this sim. thanks Adrian Brown - for the updates on these sims.

"As well as the exhibits, there are a host of combat flying tips, links and resources - and don't forgot to sign the visitors book. The team at MiGMan's Combat diary have done a fantastic job cataloging the history of desktop flight simulations. We owe them a great many thanks for all their combined efforts, helping us to remember the heritage of this ever-expanding hobby."
