"the most complex civilian flight sim I flew on the Amiga"

A320 Airbus
A320 Airbus

Rob "Bomber" Henderson remembers : "A320 AIRBUS by Thalion : This was bar far the most complex civilian flight sim I flew on the Amiga. It was developed in conjunction with LUFTHANSA of Germany. The sim came with a huge manual, a massive "notepad" containing Jeppessen airfield approach charts for almost every controlled airfield in Central Europe, and 4 high level navigation charts, and a massive poster of a real A320 cockpit.... Console wars

With X-box, Game-cube, Dice-a-matic and a box of steak knives all hitting the shelves I thought the Museum should have a peek at a couple of their flight sim offerings, slim as they are at this time.

In contrast with the usual Museum policy, I haven't actually had "stick-time" in these sims.

An aside.. .. ..

Mind you, I did go looking for Ace Combat 3 at one of Sydney's biggest games retailers.. .. ..

They had the Ace Combat 3 poster on the wall. A promising start.

ME: "Do you have Ace Combat 3 ?"

SHOP ASSISTANT: "No."

"Oh."

"OK, then.... what do you have... ah - the X-box was running a first-person shooter game. Took me right back to Castle Wolfenstein it did, only with better graphics! After 15 minutes I'd shot all the aliens. That was fun. Looked OK too in a VGA sort of way. Mmm... what next ... into the 4 wheel drive vehicle and another 15 minutes of driving about.

I asked the sales assistant what to do next in the game. Mind you, there was nobody in the shop.

SHOP ASSISTANT: "No idea."

OK... I asked the other sales assistant...

SHOP ASSISTANT: "No idea."

.... OK, I guess I can live without the X-box for nowl !
