A happy and peaceful 2003 to everybody !

New Year's Facelift !

More than just a makeover, in fact since Xmas I've been performing deep surgery on the Museum structure. The eagle-eyed will notice that instead of one index for each decade there are now 2 - combat and civil - and that the indexes are now in the public area. Also I've re-designed the navigation bar so you can reach the main areas from the top of any page.

Believe me this was no small task. Consider that back in 1998 the Museum lived on FOUR PAGES ! Quite a growth rate.

2002 saw the Museum move to pay for the bulk of the content - more info here : Why did the website move to a subscription basis? - and development of standardised formats for the information - which also enabled an enormous increase in depth with the page count almost doubling in the past 12 months alone.

2003 will see the exhibit listings striding towards completion. Check out the new indexes here :

Sabre fun

Sabres over Korea - a Korean War campaign for Microsoft Combat Sim 1 by Mike Eustace and Doug Atrell
Sabres over Korea Sabres over Korea allows you to fly the F-86 Sabre Jet in a USAF Korean War Mission Pack for Microsoft Combat Flight Sim. I found it up to the usual high standard of Mike Eustace and Doug Attrell - that is to say the fun factor is high ! Check out their earlier work here - Exhibit contents -

Comanche scans

Comanche 4 is the 4th in the Novalogic series based on the next generation US Army attack / recon helicopter.

Added scans of the box and contents to Comanche 4 It's good to see sim makers provide a keyboard overlay but interestingly enough my copy came with no CD ROM enclosed ! An oversight I'm sure. Makes it rather difficult to fly though.

IL-2 aircraft

IL-2 Sturmovik

Added pictures of the aircraft in IL-2 Sturmovik, the World War 2 Russian Front sim.

A nasty bunch of Fokkers

Knights of the Sky

As if the ordinary Jerry's weren't bad enough, you also had to contend with the "Aces".

These were particularly nasty pieces of work, zipping along in their brightly coloured personalised fighters. These guys were knocking up more kills in a single month than the Red Baron did in a whole four year war! "
