The computer guy told me where the PCI power cable was stowed. I found it and installed the new 4 GB GTX 1650 card, no sweat, and it works well. I no longer get the "your PC sucks" message on startup and I'm getting 39-59 FPS with moderate but not totally ugly settings based on a few quick tests.
The aircraft seem more responsive too with more FPS though I still suck at landing. I need to review how to be systematic about it and probably fly a more familiar aircraft (without KPH airspeed on the panel).
Some SA might help. I'm all yank and bank right now. I'm a newb again! I also want to learn to use the DA40 autopilot. Piloting skills are not that critical if I don't fly IRL and for sightseeing flights George can really be handy. Squirrel shows this in his cool little Edinburgh to Dundee video. Edinburgh to Dundee (Diamond DA40NG) - Microsoft Flight Simulator (EGPH-EGPN)
It also loads a bit faster.
There's a patch coming soon too. Here a couple of lower altitude find-my-house shots which now look more like my house. I zipped up three files that might let you fly this. If you do, I'm curious how it looks with your graphic settings. I'm at 760 ft AMSL which is about 400 feet AGL at my house! A real buzz job!
I also grabbed the free 3 GB airport add-on shown on the home screen, for Paderborn, Germany because we have an office there, though I have not personally visited. I work (remotely) with some of those folks. It's about 95 km from Frankfurt. I set up a flight from there to Frankfurt and fooled around with it (not all the way there). Scenery looks a little different in Germany. I took real weather but made it earlier in the day. I turned on ATC which for now is a pain but it is pretty cool stuff.
I think this will hold me for a while though this morning I was looking at some HP boxes like yours. BE STRONG!
You know you want to. Investing in one's passion is never a bad thing. You taught me that!
