The game resolution had to be set before launching a mission, but that was a step up from most other sims which required you set the resolution before launching the game ! Resolutions available in the DOS sims ranged from 320 x 200, 600 x 400, 800 x 600 to 1024 x 768.

Once in a mission you could press the "Esc" key at any time and change the graphics preferences from the menu shown above. The first in the series - US Navy Fighters - ran in DOS and this continued through Marine Fighters>, Advanced Tactical Fighters and NATO Fighters. US Navy Fighters '97 ran in Windows 95 only - with no performance or graphics improvements apparent - then the last monumental gasp in the series was the Fighters Anthology collection released in 1998.
