Thundehawk - 1990

This was the classic DOS interface for PC programs in the early 1990's.

You navigated the menu using the arrow keys and selecting items with the space bar. The mouse usually didn't work, if you even had one. This was the era when a certain Bill Gates was famously quoted as saying " Real men don't use mice ".

Later on he said " Windows is for wimps. "

I guess he got sick of using those 8 character file names too and later again developed his own version of a GUI (Graphical User Interface) . It was called Windows.
