My first flight

I decided to recreate a real-world flight I had taken in February 2001 where I had been entertaining an overseas visitor with Sydney from the air! flying around Sydney in a light plane is truly the best way to see this magical city.

The last time I had looked at Microsoft's civil flight sims was back in February when I had planned to take my visitor on a virtual flight the day before our actual flight. Well this plan flopped because:
  • Microsoft Flight Sim 98 didn't include Camden aerodrome.
  • The default Sydney scenery was very very icky!
  • The Cessna ws just too damn twitchy (flying with a joystick) to give a real feel for the experience.
I ended using Falcon 4.0 to demonstrate the basic instrument panel. It worked too - with my friend taking the controls and ably flying us for about half an hour.

Around Sydney in a Cessna

In our real world flight we had followed the plan shown above with the exception that instead of landing at the international airport we had continued quietly down the coast then turned west again to complete the circle at quiet old Camden town.
