Boeing B-47E Stratojet



" The first jet-powered strategic bomber to serve with USAF, over 2100 were produced.

The prototype first flew in 1947 with the E version being the first major upgrade. Crew of 3 comprised Pilot, Co-pilot and Nav / Bombardier. Co-pilot doubled as defensive systems operator. For an aircraft of its size, the B-47E was a delight to fly. Each SAC Bomb Wing in the 50's had 45 combat-ready B-47's as well recon and EW variants. "
