Air Power - The Cold War

Vickers Valiant B.Mk.1

" First flown in 1951, the Valiant was intended to supplement the British strategic nuclear bomber force alongside the Victor and the Vulcan.

The Valiant dropped the atomic bomb over Maralinga, South Australia in 1956.

Advances in Soviet SAM technology meant that the V-Bomber force had to switch to a low-level role, for which the Valiant was not suited. All Valiants bar one were scrapped in 1964. "

AFX Designer : Chris Lampard
