Super Etendard

The Super Etendard came about as a result of the French Navy's rejection (due to cost) of a navalised Jaguar to replace their ageing Etendards. First flown in 1974, the SE had many improvements, not least a much better engine. Argentina had 5 SE's at the time of the Falkands Conflict in 1982 and these were used to carry out Exocet attacks on British vessels, with deadly effect. The SE depicted here sunk HMS Sheffield on May 4th, 1982.

My notes

The gear couldn't be raised in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002. I believe it did actually raise, but the external view showed the wheels determinedly lowered!
