Hardware requirements

Minimum
Microsoft Combat Flight Sim or Microsoft Combat Flight Sim 2.

Pentium II 266 PC · Windows 95/98/ME · 32 Mb RAM · 94 Mb Hard drive space for Combat Flight Simulator installation · 158 Mb Hard drive space for Combat Flight Simulator 2 installation · CD-ROM Drive · Sound Card

Recommended
Pentium III 450 or higher · 64 Mb or more RAM · 16 Mb 3D graphics accelerator card · Monitor capable of 1024 x 768 resolution · 3D Sound card.

My results
I tested the sim on a Celeron 466 Mk II system with a Hercules 3D Prophet III Titanium 500 Graphics accelerator.

The scenery loaded well with only one glitch:

This artefact appeared occasionally around Pyongyang. Alex Ford from Just Flight informed me:

"This a one of the runways/airfields included in KCP. Buildings will only show up during missions as they are then destroyable. If you fly in free flight you will only see the runways. Due to the age of the KCP scenery it may appear to come and go under certain circumstances."

Anyway this wasn't a significant problem at all.

Scenery like this caused a massive frame rate hit.

What was a signicant problem was the drop in frame rate I experienced during battle. The frame rate went from 30 - 50 frames per second in transit down to 3 - 10 frames per second around built up areas. Obciously the CPU is the bottleneck here - so the recommended minimum spec of a 233 MHz processor must be viewed with some scepticism (I had 466 MHz).
