MiG-29 Fulcrum

In 1998 Novalogic released their MiG-29 sim in a multiplayer oriented battle fest where it was teamed against the F-16 Multi Role Fighter.

I played this a fair bit online and the R-77 missiles gave the MiG a punch to be reckoned with, a fair match for the F-16's AIM-120 AMRAAM's. It wasn't until I was being chased by 2 determined F-16 pilots that I realised you can fly at 400 knots and less than 50 feet!

The sim was subject to the usual "sim-lite" pejoratives from the "hard-core" crowd but that didn't spoil the thrill of piloting my MiG at dangerous altitudes over gloriously rendered landscapes!

The graphics engine was one of the early contenders to use 3DFX and despite a plethora of eye candy I still enjoyed sizzling frame rates on a very modest system, crunching the triangles through a mere Banshee 2D/3D Graphics Accelerator Card.
