Flight of the Old Dog

Set in the Cold War days of the late 1980's, Flight of the Old Dog depicts a clandestine strike flown by a modified B-52 into the USSR.

It introduces Patrick McLanahan, a laid back bomber - navigator with a "casual appearance and disdain for authority" who gets the pickle in the barrel every time! The book opens with a nerve - wrenching depiction of a B-52 on a low level attack run in a bombimg competition.

There is plenty of aerial action witn MiGs and SAMs ranged against the old aircraft and its crew.

Megafortress was an early 1990's DOS sim based on this book.
