Aussie = Australian

Bondi Lifesavers = Volunteer Lifeguards who patrol Bondi Beach in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs. Bondi is a popular beach and the decision to erect a Beach Volleyball stadium on it for the Olympics was met with howls of protest by the locals. When the games started however the Aussies found this sport quite to their liking! By the way every Australian child spends their weekends building sandcastles and body surfing.

Budgie = Budgerigar. A small brightly coloured parrot with a pleasant whistling voice. See the singing budgie

Dunnie = Outside toilet, typicaly constructed of tin and hosting several families of redback spider under the seat.

  G'day = Good day to you! Traditional greeting usually accompanied by a smile.

Hoges = Paul Hogan

Ow-yer-goin-mate = How are you going mate. Enquiry into the state of one's health. Usually preceded by G'day.

Thong - casual footwear made from rubber. Traditional.
