Chino Ejects over Vegas - punches Elvis!
Chino reported: "Well, not exactly! There are many Elvis impersonators here, but I didn't punch any. It also wasn't a real ejection, but "Big Shot" was pretty close to an ejection simulation! It's at the top of a 100 story tower, atop which is a 200 foot steel tower with seats attached to the outside. You are strapped in with shoulder bars, lifted slightly (for weighing, I suspect -- need to know the mass to apply the proper force, pneumatic I suspect), told to keep your head pressed against the headrest, then launched upward 160 feet at 45 mph, providing an instantaneous 4G (supposedly). Then you stop briefly at the top before being dropped in a quick zero-G free fall. They stop you and partially raise/drop a couple of times to enhance the effect, then it's over in about 45 seconds. The ride is on the little needle at the very top - I very nearly passed on this ride when I first saw it -- I've never felt afraid in any aircraft, but "open heights" in buildings can bother me -- I won't walk to the very edge of a roof top or cliff like many people do -- but the shoulder bars were cockpit-like enough for me -- it is really an adrenalin rush!) |
