"Apollo 13 (1995) is a much better known story as well as a hit movie starring Tom Hanks. Although the three astronauts are the ones whose lives are on the line after an explosion in the service module half way to the moon, the engineers are the real heroes in this movie.

These guys on the ground are the ones who make it possible for the astronauts to survive the ordeal. While it's nice to say "failure is not an option", it required genius, perserverence, improvisation, and amazing attention to detail to make this happen.

This was perhaps the Super-Geek finest hour, and this wonderful movie truly gives them their due."
