Ultimate Avengers - 2006
Based on the "Ultimate Avengers" series of Marvel comics by Mark Millar and Brian Hitch, this animated
feature rethinks the 1960's origin stories and brings the characters a little more plausibly into the 21st century.
As with most of the Lions Gate productions we are treated to a good score, this time by Guy Michaelmore.

Cap's wartime colleagues are all gone.
S.H.I.E.L.D. has a lot of neat technology, they always did, of course!
Iron Man isn't interested in joining any 'superhero team'.
Nor is Thor.
Nonetheless, Nick Fury launches "Project Avenger", helmed by Captain America, and
the hunt is on to find and defeat the same extra-terrestrial threat Cap. thwarted in 1945. (And Iron Man does decide to pitch in after all!)
