BAD WEATHER AND NIGHT FORMATION

Use TRAIL FORMATION in conditions of reduced visibility because:

Pilot workload is high in these conditions

The exhaust of the lead aircraft is a good reference point

Range can easily be estimated by the size of the lead a/c in the HUD

Use the IFR Intercept Checklist
