I played RA2 on normal difficulty and found that about right for me. What's more I finished it on both sides - GDI and NOD!!
Novices have a lower difficulty setting and the truly brave can opt for a harder level. Naturally I opted for the most difficult setting - which is why I took weeks and weeks to finish - well that's my excuse!
As well as the couple of dozen scripted missions - which kept me entertained for a month - the skirmish mode provides a lot of replay against computer opponents. After a while of course you learn to out-think the AI but playing against humans online or on a network would be a real blast.
Interestingly the promotional videos on the DVD gave me a lot of hints about gameplay. Most of the units gain attributes with experience - like the ability to self heal - and this gives you a great incentive to keep them alive.
An advertisement for McBurger Kong is running at the local drive-in.
You can garrison troops in fast food shops.
Gotta love those nukes!
Infantry are not as useless as they were in previous games - the Allied GI's can dig in by erecting sandbags. Menus are much much improved with separate tabs for construction, supply, defense and troops. The tabs flash when construction is complete and of course you can access them with keyboard shortcuts.
5 stars: Ace !!! I never get tired of this one!
