Fire in the Sky: The Air War in the South Pacific by Eric M. Bergerud
As reported by Flying Singer.
Although I have so far only read selected chapters, I recommend this book to anyone who wants a detailed treatment (626 pages!) of the air war in the Pacific. It's a blend of military history (units, actions, strategies, etc.) with oral history - the stories of the airmen.
This book is especially interesting to me because my father-in-law flew B-24s in this theater.
