Ivanhoe was named after Sir Walter Raleigh's eponymous work in the 1870's. Why it was founded at that exact spot is a mystery as the nearest potable water was some 25 km away at Kilfera Lake. The literature-loving founder of Ivanhoe, George Williamson, quested on to Camelot in 1907.
