A.C.E. 2 (Air Combat Emulator)

Feedback

ACE 2 the sequel to A.C.E. (Air Combat Emulator)was a two player head-head sim. As per all the jet sims at that time it was good guy NATO versus bad guy Commie/Arab.
You could fly either a kind of F18/F16 crossbreed or some sort of MiG, like a cross between a MiG-21 Fishbed and a Flogger. This was my introduction to BVR combat using SARH missiles. The flight dynamics were pretty much identical between the two aircraft, but the cockpit layouts were different.
You had the good guy on top and the bad guy below. It was good fun as I remember playing it head-head with my mate Tom. Single player mode was more taxing, as you had to destroy the enemy airforce and then attack the enemy base - which was far more difficult than expected.
There was no take-off or landing, you just needed to overfly your base and you got re-armed etc. I do remember it getting quite slow at times - especially if alot of missiles were in flight! It was good as a two player, but not a patch on the original A.C.E. (Air Combat Emulator).
