MiGMan's Combat Diary
I decided to take the FRS.1 for a hike around the Falklands in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002, to see whether the terrain was more interesting and also whether the airbases were present.
On selecting Falkland Islands as the region, 2 airbases showed up:
I selected Mt. Pleasant which turned out to be very near Goose Green. The nav gear had defaulted to the Port Stanley frequency so I headed in a North - East direction - as in this flight. Port Stanley was indeed there and it showed up on the in - game map.
Port Stanley, East Falkland
However Pebble Island wasn't visible... but, not easily deterred I turned West - North - West and scooted out across the frigid South Atlantic waters.
I very nearly missed it - and if I hadn't changed the season to "winter" I quite probably wouldn't have seen it. As it was I glanced left and saw a patch of green ... he he .. there it was... still too close to the water but minus that radio mast placed right at the runway threshold in Microsoft Combat Flight Sim 2.
The terrain ? There are a lot more undulations, and some low mountains especially in the west.
