" "American Patriot," race number 8, came into the world in 1973 and was used by the Soviet Air Forces until the end of the Cold War. Transferred to the United States in 1999, the aircraft first raced at Reno in 2017, where it qualified for the Gold race and finished an impressive 3rd in that category. It competed again in 2018, qualifying for Gold with a blazing average speed of 497.111 miles per hour."
