" "Drop Bear," Race Number 69, is an L-39C that was fabricated in Czechoslovakia 1987. Moved to the United States in the 1990s, it made its racing debut as Race Number 69 in 2017. That year, the aircraft, modified to reduce weight, participated in the Silver Race, finishing 3rd with a speed of 426.296 miles per hour, and then the Gold, placing 7th with an average speed of 419.417 mph. In 2018 Drop Bear qualified for the Silver Race and took 1st with an average speed of 420.354 miles per hour. 2019 was another great year for Drop Bear, where, after more upgrades including weight savings and a glass panel, it placed 2nd in the Silver Race with a speed of 431.396 miles per hour and 6th in Gold, clocking 425.637 mph."
