• cycles=20000
• cycleup=18000
• cycledown=18000
So with one press of CTRL-F11/F12 I can go from 20000 to 2000 and back. I lower the cycles for those satellite link updates each day and set it to 20000 for fluid gameplay with max detail settings.
Also I changed

joysticktype=ch	so the hat switch works out of the box, and
timed=false	so changing cycles won't make my stick input drift, and finally
swap34=true	so my rudder and throttle are not mixed up.
