Updates, updates, Updates!
MSFS 2020 has to be the best supported piece of software that I have ever used in more than 40 years of flight simming.
Sure, this meant that the hard drive footprint of the sim grew and grew and... grew, but with storage space getting cheaper every year this was not such a big deal.
Mind you it wasn’t until late 2024 that I finally moved my "Official" and "Community" folders off my 1 Tb C drive to my 6Tb D drive. Laziness I guess, and a fear of corrupting the install. This fear turned out to be groundless.
I used Steam to move the base files to the D drive, and after reading the Steam help page more carefully, moved them back again to the C drive. That only took a few minutes. Steam recommended leaving the base install on C as a precaution against future hiccups.
When the dust settled I had freed up 80 per cent of my C drive in anticipation of MSFS 2024 and MSFS 2020 was operating quite happily with all the updates and my Community folder nestled comfortably on the voluminous 6Tb D.
