Installation
Installation was a straight forward 3 step process:
- 1. Running the setup program on the CD installed Pearl Harbour to the default Microsoft Combat Flight Sim 2 directory and required about 58 MEG of hard disk space.
- 2. Secondly the scenery needed activation in Microsoft Combat Flight Sim 2. Running the now-installed "PH-CFGeditor" program at Programs | Flight One Pearl Harbor, I checked that the settings were as rexcommended (they were), and pressed "Add to Scenery CFG". Done!
- 3. Thirdly the special, fluffy / translucent clouds needed turning on. Once again this was a 2 or 3 click operation. Since I had previously installed the Just Flight add-on Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, the clouds were already active (the installation is automated in BOB). Anyway in the interest of thoroughness I re-installed them to see if any problems popped up. There were none.
Here is part of a note from the manual about the Combat Clouds:
❝This program, based on the popular FSClouds 2000 program by Flight One Software, will give your simulator added realism. You will be able to see the beautiful coastlines through the wispy cloud effects, sunsets will look spectacular, and missions will be more realistic.
If you ever need to un-install December 7th, 1941 Pearl Harbor make sure you restore your default clouds as the un-install routine will not automatically restore them.
Please note that certain video drivers may not be compatible with Combat Clouds. If this is the case, make sure you have the most recent video drivers for your video card, and the latest edition of Direct X installed.
HINT: Always accept the default locations for installing your sims. This will save you time and problems when adding patches or upgrades and then eventually when uninstalling.
