" "Radial Velocity," Race Number 88, began its life as an AT-6D-NT at North American Aviation’s Dallas, Texas plant in 1942. It briefly served the Army Air Forces and then the Navy for 17 years as a trainer before private ownership. Its career at Reno started in 1988, as Race Number 20. In 2007, the airframe began flying as #28, Radial Velocity. That year it took 1st place in the Bronze Race, with an average speed of 217.027 miles per hour. In 2008 it won 1st in Silver with a speed of 224.101 mph. 2017 saw Radial Velocity take 1st in the Gold Race, clocking a speed of 225.470 miles per hour. In 2021, the racer took 2nd in T-6 Gold, averaging a velocity of 228.205 mph."
