MiGMan’s Flight Sim Museum

Strike Fighters Project 1

Project 1 | First look" Beta version 2002

In May 2002 the Flight Sim Museum received a copy of the beta version from the developer, Tsuyoshi Kawahito .
Intro screen sets the mood.
Cold War favourite the F-104 Starfighter.
Apparently the sim will have a campaign mode.
The F-4 Phantom II is the figurehead of 1960's jet combat and should be a main feature in Strike Fighters.
I had to upgrade to Direct X version 8.1 before the sim would run ! Performance was brisk and smooth on my Celeron 466 Mk II which says a lot for the coding !
The cockpits are virtual and you can zoom in and out.
Zooming in to the gauges reveals a very readable set of instruments.
The flight models felt very fluid but I had great difficulty landing the aircraft. Bobbing and porpoising was the order of the day.
I asked Tsuyoshi Kawahito if there was a trim control implemented and he replied "No, there will be an automatic trim in the final version".
I hope there is an option to manually trim the aircraft as that's half the fun of landing and flying these beasts.
The 'bad guys' include the MiG-17, MiG-19 and MiG-21. The classics!
In May 2002 the sim found a publisher and was re-named Strike Fighters Project 1
