Master Modes

Don't forget to switch Master Modes (M) so you're getting the appropriate readouts on your HUD.
Using Indicated Air Speed (IAS) in a dogfight makes sense because your stall speed will be the same INDICATED at any altitude. As you pull G's the stall speed decreases.
Using altitude above ground level makes sense in NAV mode because you need to know your precise altitude above terrain whn landing and at low level.
I you're inclined to do a bit of flight testing: When setting altitude use AIR mode to get the altitude Above Sea Level. BE CAREFUL to keep a lookout for approaching terrain. When measuring speed in level flight use AG mode. When climbing to altitude use AIR mode to display your Indicated Air Speed. (IAS) MODE ALT SPEED NAV AGL GND AIR ASL IAS AG AGL TAS Ejecting from the F4 Phantom Remember to watch your fuel status!
