L-39C "Blue Ice"

" "Blue Ice," race number 19, is an L-39C that was built in 1974 and served as a trainer for the Ukrainian Air Force until the late 1990s. Transferred to the United States in 2001, the aircraft was placed in storage and then underwent a series of upgrades and modifications. The airframe first raced at Reno in 2014, under a different name and race number, and participated as Race 19 “Blue Ice" for the first time in 2018. The aircraft, which is painted distinctively in light blue with the Australian flag on its vertical stabilizer, finished in 3rd place in the Silver race in 2018 with an average speed of 417.755 miles per hour. In 2019, Blue Ice also competed in the Silver race, finishing 4th, clocking 417.213 mph, just a little more than a half second slower than 2018."
